Osaamistavoitteet

Kurssien tarkoitus on perehdyttää opiskelija antiikin ja sen tradition tutkimisen eri osa-alueisiin.

Sisältö

Erikoiskursseja voi suorittaa lähinnä kirjatentteinä tai laatimalla esseitä. Kirjatenteistä on sovittava aina erikseen; alla luetellut kirjat ovat lähinnä esimerkkejä.

a) Johdatus antiikintutkimukseen 3 op
Luentokurssi, tai valikoima seuraavista kirjoista: Morley, Writing Ancient History (1,5 op); Castren-Frösen, Johdatus antiikin tutkimukseen (1,5 op); Crawford, Sources for Ancient History (2 op): Bagnall, Reading papyri, Writing ancient history (1,5 op); Zilliacus, Rooma, piirtokirjoitusten kaupunki (1 op); Zilliacus, Papyrustutkimus (1 op).

b) Topografia ja kaupunkikulttuuri 3 op
Esim. kaksi seuraavista:
Camp J.M. & Renfrew C, Athenian Agora: excavations in the Heart of Classical Athens (1992); Claridge A. et al., Rome: An Oxford Archaeological Guide; Krautheimer R., Rome. Profile of a City, 312-1308; Owens E.J. The City in the Greek and Roman World (1991). Raportoitu opintomatka voidaan hyväksyä suoritukseksi eri sopimuksesta.

c) Antiikin filosofia ja aatemaailma 3 op
Esim. Thesleff - Sihvola, Antiikin filosofia ja aatemaailma (1994)

d) Kreikan kieli ja kulttuuri 3-6 op
Valitaan seuraavista 1–2 kokonaisuutta.
Kreikan kielen alkeiskurssi 3 op Oppikirjana Frösén, Epi oinopa ponton (kurssit 1 2). Harjoituksia 56 t. ja loppukoe tai kirjatentti
Kreikan kielen jatkokurssi 3 op Oppikirja: Frösén, Epi oinopa ponton (kurssit 3 ja 4 tai 6). Harjoituksia 56 t. ja loppukoe tai kirjatentti.
Kreikan kirjallisuus 3 op Kirjatentti: runoutta ja proosaa käännöksinä esim. seuraavista teoksista: Ilias (1,5 op) tai Odysseia (1,5 op). Lyriikkaa: Oksala Oksala, Kreikkalaisia kirjailijakuvia s. 27 109; Sapfo (Junkolan tai Saarikosken suomennos); Theokritos, Idyllejä (yht. 1,5 op): Ksenofon, Kyyroksen sotaretki (1,5 op); Platon, Faidon, Faidros ja Pidot (1,5 op); Yksi Aiskhyloksen, Sofokleen, Euripideen ja Aristofaneen draama (1,5 op).

e) Klassinen retoriikka 3 op
Luentokurssi tai jokin retoriikan teorian esitys selityksineen, esim. Aristoteles tai Cicero vastaavan opettajan ohjeiden mukaan.

f) Antiikin kulttuurivaikutus 3 op
Luentokurssi, tai valikoima esim. seuraavista kirjoista:
Oksala, Eino Leinon tie Paltamosta Roomaan (1 op); Härmänmaa-Vihavainen: Kivettyneet ihanteet? Klassismin nousu maailmansotien välisessä Euroopassa (2 op); Jenkyns (ed.): The Legacy of Rome: A New Appraisal (3 op).

g) Latinan historiallinen kielioppi 3 op
Kirjatentti: Lundström, Latinets ljud- och formhistoria; Palmer, The Latin Language (lauseoppi).

The coursebook: Frösén, Epi oinopa ponton (courses 3 and 4 or 6). Exercises 56h and a final examination or a book exam. Greek Literatire 3 ECTS A book exam: translation poetry and prose from the following books, for example: Iliad (1,5 ECTS) or Odyssey (1,5 ECTS).
