Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the course unit, the student will be able to understand the interpreting process as a communicational structure. The student will understand the importance of various process components for a successful interpreting assignment. In addition, the student will have an understanding of the principles for preparing for an interpreting assignment. They will master the basic techniques of prima vista interpreting and note-taking.

Contents

The course unit explores the entire interpreting process from preparation to feedback utilisation and potential needs for improvement (preparation; coping and well-being of the interpreter). Moreover, the course unit covers interpreting as a communicative situation (performing and use of voice, communicative situations and interaction) and interpreting techniques (note-taking technique, prima vista interpreting).
