Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course unit, the student will master the basics of scientific research. The student will be able to formulate a research question, prepare a research plan, and search for research literature. The student will be able to interpret scientific texts and to collect, structure, and analyse their research data. The student will be able to perform structured and extensive information searches on their topic, combine information from various sources, and produce new knowledge on the basis of this information. The student will also be able to use the tools for reference management to support their scientific writing in their Master's thesis. The student will be able to present their research in written form in the seminar, and will be able to orally present arguments for their research. The student will also be able to assess the research of others by using scientific argumentation.
Contents
During the course unit, the student will familiarise themselves with their field of study and prepare a research plan and a preliminary disposition for their Master's thesis, as well as a bibliography related to their own topic. They will also write and present a seminar paper to other students, as well as comment on another student's work.
