Learning outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course unit, the student will understand the roles of the state authorities and the interpreter and their tasks and responsibilities in court interpreting situations. The student will be able to work according to interpreter's professional and ethical principles and the law. The student will know how to prepare for an assignment, will be familiar with common background material and will be able to use it in their work. They will have basic competence in court interpreting and will also have the ability to work in situations involving multiple interpreters. They will know how to appropriately use prima vista and whispered interpreting techniques.

Court interpreter's professional and ethical practices, interpreter's practices with authorities. Agents in court interpreting, legal processes, and common interpreting situations. Common background material for court interpreting. Prima vista interpreting and whispered interpreting. Interpreting assignments. Evaluation of student's own preparation and interpreting processes, peer evaluation.
