Learning outcomes

After completing the course students are familiar with the main philosophical problems and theories of the mind, cognition, the body, and personhood. They are capable of describing and critically evaluating those problems and theories.

Contents

The study module deals with the contemporary philosophy of mind, which has its theoretical background in several sources, such as the history of philosophy, phenomenology, and cognitive science. It focuses on theories of the mind and embodiment, problems concerning the intentionality of language, mind, and action, the relations between reason and emotions, moral psychology and the common problems of the philosophy of mind and metaphysics, such as the psychophysical problem and the problem of free will and determinism.
