Upon successful completion of the course unit, the student will be able to act professionally and collegially as part of an interpreting team in a multilingual conference. The student will master relay interpreting and will be able to perceive interpretation's position as part of the conference as a whole. The student will understand the basic principles of interpreting services in a conference and the prerequisites of successful conference interpreting. The student will understand the importance of thorough preparation and collegial behaviour for a successful conference interpreting.
Contents
The course unit explores simultaneous interpreting in conference situations, relay interpreting, and interpreting services at conferences (such as assembling a team). The course unit also provides information on the interpreter’s professional, collegial activity as part of an interpreting team.
