General description

The object of the course is to teach students an approach to the study of pharmacologic agents.Principles of Pharmacology is designed to introduce students to fundamental concepts in drug action and drug disposition at the molecular and cellular level. Topics include the binding of drugs to receptors, receptor activation and inhibition, effect of drugs on cell signalling, drug absorption and metabolism, genetic determinants of drug action and drug toxicity.

Learning outcomes

Student will be given a general introduction to all aspects of pharmacologic biology and taught general scientific skills. He/she will understand the basics of pharmacology and toxicology and learn how to use skills in own expertise .

Contents

In the course the student will learn the binding of drugs to receptors, receptor activation and inhibition, effect of drugs on cell signalling, drug absorption and metabolism, the development of new drugs and drug toxicity. At the basic level the drug modelling techniques will be study.
