General description
This course unit is intended for a University of Tampere student who acts as a sports tutor for the University of Tampere student sports union UtaSport.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course unit, the student:
* will know how to plan, guide and assess group activities
* will know more about sports culture and especially university sports
* will know how to activate students to exercise and do sports in a way that benefits their health
* will know how to plan and organise a sporting event.
Contents
The sports tutor will be introduced to their role and tasks, university sports in Tampere, and other sports and exercise possibilities in Tampere.
The sports tutor will devise a plan for tutoring activities, participate in the activities during at least one semester and write a report about the activities. The sports tutor will also assess their own activities as a tutor, the success of the tutoring activities as well as the introduction to them and thus participate in their development.

The approved completion of the course unit entitles the student to a certificate of sports tutoring, issued by the UtaSport association.
