The objective is for the students to learn to master the concepts of language and language use, receive the preparedness to analyse language on a versatile basis, and acquire the capacity to support the pupils’ growth into multilingual individuals.
Contents
The course familiarises the students with the key content of multilingual teaching in view of language and grammar. In terms of multilingual growth, the central issue is how to guide pupils towards familiarity with their native language and their own culture. Mastering the basic grammatical concepts of the Finnish language constitutes the precondition for the students to compare their native language to Finnish. Language and grammar are especially examined in view of linguistic functions, the generation of meaning, and textual skills.
