Learning outcomes

After completing the course unit the students understand the concepts of Europeanisation and multi-level governance and can recognise the interaction and interdependence of national and European levels of policy-making in modern European politics. The students can analyse how integration affects national politics and particularly the Finnish political system. Students are also familiar with the roles and influence of various interest groups, political parties, and sub-national actors in the multi-level political system of modern Europe.

Division of competencies between EU and member states; the role of interest groups and sub-national actors in modern Europe, Europeanisation and multi-level governance; the impact of European integration on the Finnish political system.
