General Doctoral Studies, 6–10 ECTS

Learning outcomes

The purpose of this study module is to develop the doctoral student's general abilities as a researcher. Thus, in addition to the course on research ethics, it is recommended to include courses also on research and working life skills, language and communication skills, and teaching and supervising competencies.

Content

The student must complete a minimum of 6 ECTS of studies related to general research skills while bearing in mind that the overall 30 ECTS requirement of doctoral studies must also be completed. For example, if the student has completed 6 ECTS in the category of general research skills, he/she must plan additional studies agreed upon with the supervisor worth of 24 ECTS.

The minimum requirement of 6 ECTS must contain a course on research ethics, for example, the one offered by the University's Doctoral School, and a course focusing on scientific communication/writing, for example, ABC of Scientific Communication or Academic Writing.
