Intermediate Studies in Philosophy, 50 ECTS

Learning outcomes

After completing intermediate studies students understand the importance of the history of philosophy to all philosophizing. They are able to describe different periods and different approaches in the history of philosophy. They are familiar with the main trends in contemporary philosophy and have deepened their familiarity with logic, philosophy of science, and a few other subfields of philosophy. They are also familiar with research ethics. They are capable of writing a clear and coherent philosophical presentation and participating in philosophical discussion.

Content

Intermediate studies in philosophy provide an overview of the history of philosophy and thus add to the student’s understanding of the main problems and concepts of the subfields of philosophy. They contain studies in contemporary philosophical logic, philosophy of science, and research ethics. In addition, they include study modules that deepen the student's familiarity with two other subfields of philosophy. The student also participates in the proseminar and the seminar and prepares a seminar essay and the Bachelor’s thesis.
