Learning outcomes

Having completed the module, the student is able to recognise the mutual interdependencies between environmental policy and energy policy in regional, national, European, and global contexts. The student can outline how energy policy decisions at national and international level are related to the governance of the environment and natural resources and the processes preserving the life chances of biosphere.

Having completed the module, the student understands and is able to analyse the effects of energy policy decisions on the changes in climate and in the environment. The student will also be able to analyse the boundary conditions set by environmental risks and climate change on energy policy. The student will recognise the conflicts of interest and safety aspects dealing with the politics of the environment and energy at local, national, and supranational level. The student will perceive the extent to which various institutional actors as well as the citizenry can influence the formation of policies of the environment and energy at national and global level.

Furthermore, the student will perceive that the policies of the environment and energy restructure the norms and regulations at the national and supranational level, as well as have their effects on contractual arrangements.
