Translation in Business and Technology, 35– ECTS

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of their studies in Translation in Business and Technology, the student will have a thorough understanding of the special characteristics of the language of business and technology. The student will also have a thorough understanding of text genres in their chosen field of specialisation. The student will be able to work as an expert in their chosen field of specialisation in multilingual and multicultural communication situations and environments. Furthermore, the student will have a thorough understanding of information research and terminological issues in their chosen field of specialisation. The student will also have thorough knowledge of the research conducted in their chosen field of specialisation.

Content

A student specialising in business translation will complete compulsory course units for a total of 25 ECTS and a minimum of 10 ECTS of alternative studies.

Compulsory course units are MVKSXX Business Translation Seminar into both the student's A and B working languages (5 + 5 ECTS), MVKS23 Basics of Localisation (5 ECTS), MVKS11 User-Centred Translation (5 ECTS), and MVKS26 Terminology Work (5 ECTS).

For the alternative studies, the student must be complete at least two course units worth 5 ECTS each. One of these course units must be an alternative course unit in Translation in Business and Technology. The other course unit may be a free choice course unit that is not connected to the specialised subject of Translation in Business and Technology.

The student that specialises in technical translation will complete compulsory course units for a total of 25 ECTS and a minimum of 10 ECTS of alternative studies.
