Translation in Specialised Subjects, 35– ECTS

Learning outcomes

Upon successful completion of the Translation in Specialised Subjects study module, the student will be able to describe their field, address its special challenges, and professionally translate specialised texts. Additionally, the student will have basic knowledge of the research on translation in specialised subjects.

Content

The student will complete 25 ECTS of Compulsory Studies and a minimum of 10 ECTS of Alternative Studies.
The compulsory course units include MVKS11 User-Centred Translation (5 ECTS), MVKS26 Terminology Work (5 ECTS), MVKS13P Specialised Subjects Translation Seminar Swedish–Finnish (5 ECTS) and MVKS14P Specialised Subjects Translation Seminar Finnish–Swedish (5 ECTS), as well as either MVKS57 Texts and Translating in Law and Administration (5 ECTS) or MVKS23 Basics of Localisation (5 ECTS).
The student must complete at least two Alternative Studies course units worth 5 ECTS each. One of these must be an Alternative Studies course unit in Translation in Specialised Subjects, but the other can also be any Free Choice Studies course unit in Swedish Translation and Interpreting.
