General Studies in Master's Degree Programmes given in English 2017-2018, 1–22 ECTS

Learning outcomes

The aim of the General Studies is to help the student to start the studies and to finish them successfully.

During the studies the student will
- understand what it takes to study at university level; the student knows the structure of the Master's degree programme and how to plan the studies independently and responsibly and how to take courses and where to get advice, and realises the importance of his/her independent work in progressing in studies.
- know how to seek information needed in MSc studies
- know how to use university's IT services.
- learn how to communicate in academic and working life and how to develop these skills independently.

Content

General studies in the Master's degree programmes given in English are different depending on the student's background:

A) International students

B) Students with school education in Finnish and Bachelor's degree taken outside UTA

C) Students who have taken Bachelor's degree at UTA

General studies in the Master's degree programmes given in English are different depending on the student's educational background. Please choose below only one of the three options A, B or C
B) General studies for students with education in Finnish and BSc degree taken outside UTA 9–18 ECTS
Compulsory studies 9–13 ECTS
9–13 ECTS
Swedish course is required only if no Swedish studies were taken in the Bachelor's degree.
C) General studies for students who have taken their BSc degree at UTA 1–11 ECTS
Free-choice studies 0–10 ECTS
Scientific Writing is recommended if the Master's thesis is written in English.
