Learning outcomes

The aim of the General Studies is to support the student with his/her study skills and personal development throughout the studies.
Upon successful completion of general studies the student will:
- be familiar with the university and Master?s level studies
- know the structure of the Master's degree programme
- learn to plan his/her studies independently and responsibly
- understand the importance of one?s own independent work in progressing in the studies
- learn how to find help and advice and how to seek information needed in MSc studies
- know how to use university's ICT services, including library services
- has skills to communicate within his/her own field using academic English

Content

During the orientation, the students will familiarise themselves with the University of Tampere as a learning environment, their own degree programme, and with the services available to them to support their studies, their planning and completion. The course also introduces the study counseling and study practices of the University of Tampere and the degree programme.
