After completing the course students can describe the development of gametes, fertilization and different stages of human embryonic development. In addition, students can outline the basics of organ development and common developmental disorders as well as consequences of different gene and chromosomal changes to the development. Group work activities enhance students capability to summarise important aspects of organ development, skills in group working and oral presentation skills in English.
Basics of gametogenesis, ovulation and fertilization processes. Early state zygote development and embryo cleavage, implantation and development of embryonic layers. Main steps of embryonic and fetal development as well as development of placenta and fetal membranes. Main disorders and teratogens in embryonic and fetal development. Basics of organ development through group work activities.
Combined evaluation of group work presentation and exam.
