Degree Programme in Business Studies

The Degree Programme in Business Studies prepares students for various and changing managerial and expert functions. The education stresses operating in a changing international environment. Economy and business life are conceived of in the programme as extensive phenomena because serving in managerial and expert functions in enterprises and other organizations entails familiarity with the foundations of organizations, management, economy and jurisprudence. The degree programme offers students the opportunity to specialize in the issues which best respond to the needs of working life and their own particular interests. Students on the Degree Programme in Business Studies can take advantage of the other degree programmes offered in the School of Management. By selecting studies from the programmes in administrative sciences and/or political science students can build up a suitable study path for themselves. On the Degree Programme in Business Studies students first take the Bachelor's degree on a broadly-base Bachelor's programme. The transition to Master's studies is made in a manner separately determined within the Degree Programme in Business studies. Master's studies include seven options: Specialization in Leadership in Service Economy, Specialization in Insurance and Risk Management, Specialization in Accounting, Specialization in Marketing, Specialization in Economics, Specialization in Business Management, and Specialization in Business Law and Tax Law. Those graduating from the programme find job placements in expert and managerial functions among others in companies and organizations and public administration organizations. The job markets for those with Master's degrees in business studies are international.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the Degree Programme in Business Studies

  • Students will have the competence for managerial and expert functions in economic ad business life and be capable of perceiving themselves as actors with influence in changing the world
  • Students will be capable of making a critical analysis of changes in the economy and their significance in the operations of organizations.
  • Students will be able to gather and analyse extensive amounts of information, produce and apply scientific and practical information orally and in writing, independently and in collaboration with others
  • Students will have the capability to use the conceptual framework and methods of their own field.  They will moreover have acquired good presentation and communication skills and sound language proficiency.
