Degree Programme in Administrative Studies
The Degree Programme in Administrative Studies imparts sound scientific and theoretical capabilities for the analysis of complex and changing phenomena and for tasks in administrative management and expert functions. On the programme administration is conceived of as an extensive phenomenon since functioning in administrative management and expert functions entails familiarity with the juridical bases of organizations, management, economy as well as administration. The Degree Programme in Administrative Studies covers local, regional, national and international level and offers students the opportunity to specialize in question best responding to their particular interests. Those graduating from the programme will find job placements among others in international tasks (the UE, international organizations etc.) national tasks (the ministries etc.) and in tasks at the regional and local levels (regional development and municipalities). Graduates from the programme also find placements in companies, the media and elsewhere in the private sector. Practical training and internationality play a prominent role in the programme. Students on the Degree Programme in Administrative Studies can take advantage of the courses offered on other degree programmes in the School of Management. By selecting studies from the degree programmes in business studies and/or politics students can create their own chosen pathways. On the Degree Programme in Administrative Studies students first take the Bachelor's degree through the broad-based Bachelor's programme. They will transfer to Master's studies through a system specified separately in the degree programme. There are six options on the Master's programme: administrative sciences, public law, public financial management, municipal and regional management, environmental and regional policy and management of service economics.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of the Degree Programme in Administrative Studies

  • students will be capable or formulating questions on administration and societal development and conceive of themselves as actors exerting influence in changing the world
  • students will be capable of making a critical analysis of societal change, development needs and measures in entities
  • students will be capable of gathering and analyzing extensive amounts of data, produce and apply scientific and practical knowledge in writing and orally independently and in collaboration with others.
