Study Guide 2015-2016

At Tampere University of Technology, it is currently possible to complete in English the graduate degrees Master of Science in Architecture (MSc Arch) and Master of Science in Technology (MSc Tech) and the postgraduate degrees Licentiate of Science in Technology, Doctor of Science in Technology and Doctor of Philosophy.

The graduate degrees Master of Science in Architecture and Master of Science in Technology can be completed in English in the following eight degree programmes which have one or more major subjects: Architecture, Automation Engineering, Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management, Information Technology, Materials Engineering, and Science and Engineering.

The postgraduate degrees Licentiate of Science in Technology, Doctor of Science in Technology and Doctor of Philosophy can be completed in five degree programmes which are Built Environment, Business and Technology Management, Computing and Electrical Engineering, Engineering and Natural Sciences, and Engineering Sciences.

In Finnish, it is also possible to take the undergraduate degree Bachelor of Science in Technology in six degree programmes. In Finnish, TUT offers twelve graduate degree programmes and five postgraduate degree programmes.

Master of Science in Technology / Architecture

The graduate degrees awarded by TUT are the Master of Science in Technology and Master of Science in Architecture. The scope of the studies required for the degrees is 120 credits. The studies can be completed in two academic years of full-time study.

The degree structure of Master of Science in Technology:

Common Core Studies 0-20 cr
Major 30 cr or 50-60 cr* Minor* 20-30 cr
*) If the scope of a student's major subject
is 50-60 credits, a minor subject is not required.
Master's Thesis and Proficiency Test 30 cr Elective Studies 0-40 cr

The degree structure of Master of Science in Architecture:

The graduate degree awarded in the Master's Degree Programme in Architecture corresponds to the Finnish degree of "Arkkitehti" and confers eligibility to work as an architect in Finland and other EU countries (according to the 2005/36/EC EU Directive).

Doctor of Science in Technology / Architecture

A study module may include compulsory and/or elective courses. The content of study modules is determined based on the expected learning outcomes. Students may be required to meet prerequisite knowledge requirements before registering for a study module.
