Learning outcomes

After completing the course the student is able to design, simulate, build, and test a RF active circuit, for example, a low noise amplifier. In addition, the student is able to deliver a presentation and create a scientific report describing his work.

Content

Content Core content Complementary knowledge Specialist knowledge
1. Use of an RF simulations tool.
2. Design of a practical circuit e.g. an RF amplifier, oscillator, or mixer.
3. Layout design for an RF circuit plus practical etching of a printed circuit board.
4. Making gain, impedance, and spectrum measurements using RF test instruments.
5. Preparing a report that meets scientific standards and quality.

Prerequisites

Course Mandatory/Advisable Description
ELE-6050 RF-tekniikan perusteet I Advisable
ELE-6056 Basics of RF and microwave electronics Advisable

Additional information about prerequisites
Either one of the courses ELE-6050 or ELE-6056 should be taken prior to ELE-6286. It is recommended that students take ELE-6256 Active RF Circuits at the same time.
