Continuing to Master's Degree studies

University

International Degree Programme in Science and Engineering

The students of the International Degree Programme in Science and Engineering also get a study right to the degree of Master of Science in Technology upon admission to the Bachelor's programme. The Master's degree programme is determined by the studies completed in the Bachelor's degree. Currently, it's possible to to continue to eight of Tampere University's Master's programmes available in English.

1. Check the requirements below and familiarize yourself with the MSc programme curriculum. 
2. Make a draft MSc personal study plan (PSP) anytime during your 3rd study year.
3. Print our the draft PSP along with your BSc PSP and contact the study coordinator responsible to get a confirmation that everything is ok.
4. After you graduate as Bachelor of Science, you can send your MSc PSP for approval.
5. When you MSc PSP has been approved, you have been officially transferred to your desired Master's Degree Programme.

Requirements:

Automation Engineering

It is possible to study as the major subject in your Master's degree

  • Intelligent Heavy Machines and Fluid Power and Automation if you have taken Programming 2 in addition to any modules in your Bachelor's degree
  • Factory Automation and Industrial Informatics if you have taken 30 cr modules in Information and Communications Technology and either Mathematics or Physics in your Bachelor's degree
  • Robotics if you have taken Mathematics or Information and Communications Technology as the major and minor in your Bachelor's degree

Information Technology

It is possible to study as the major subject in your Master's degree

  • Communication Systems and Networks if you have taken
    • Information and Communications Technology either as major or minor subject in your Bachelor's degree, including the courses set as preliminary courses for the MSc major Communication Systems and Networks or
    • the 30 cr modules in Mathematics and Physics and the 20 cr Minor in Communications and Networking in your Bachelor's degree
  • Data Engineering and Machine Learning if you have taken
    • Information and Communications Technology either as major or minor subject in your Bachelor's degree, including the courses set as preliminary courses for the MSc major Data Engineering and Machine Learning or
    • the 30 cr modules in Mathematics and Physics and the 20 cr Minor in Information Technology or Signal Processing and Machine Learning (or one of the former study modules Signal Processing or Machine Learning) in your Bachelor's degree
  • Embedded Systems if you have taken
    • Information and Communications Technology either as major or minor subject in your Bachelor's degree, including the courses set as preliminary courses for the MSc major Embedded Systems
  • Software Engineering - Web & Cloud if you have taken
    • Information and Communications Technology either as major or minor subject in your Bachelor's degree, including the courses set as preliminary courses for the MSc major Software Engineering - Web & Cloud or
    • the 30 cr modules in Mathematics and Physics and the 20 cr Minor in Information Technology in your Bachelor's degree
  • Signal Processing and Machine Learning if you have taken
    • Information and Communications Technology either as major or minor subject in your Bachelor's degree, including the courses set as preliminary courses for the MSc major Signal Processing or
    • the 30 cr modules Mathematics and Physics and the 20 cr Minor in Signal Processing in your Bachelor's degree
  • Human-Technology Interaction (former User Experience) if you have taken
    • Information and Communications Technology either as major or minor subject in your Bachelor's degree, including the courses set as preliminary courses for the MSc major User Experience or
    • the 30 cr modules Mathematics and Physics and the courses TIE-04106 Basic Course on User Experience and TIE-41106 User Interface Design in your Bachelor's degree

Biomedical Sciences and Engineering

It is possible to study as the major subject in your Master's degree

  •  Biomaterials and Tissue Engineering if you have taken
    • Physics either as your major or minor and Minor in Biomedical Engineering in your Bachelor's degree
  •  Biomedical Micro- and Nanodevices if you have taken
    •  Physics (compulsory) and Information and Communications Technology (recommended) either as your major or minor and Minor in Biomedical Engineering in your Bachelor's degree
  • Health Technology and Informatics
    • Biomedical Instrumentation profile: if you have taken either Mathematics, Physics or ICT as the major and Minor in Biomedical Technology in your Bachelor's degree
    • Medical Physicist profile: if you have taken Physics either as your major or minor and Minor in Biomedical Engineering in your Bachelor's degree
    • Health Informatics profile: if you have taken Information and Communications Technology either as your major or minor and Minor in Biomedical Engineering in your Bachelor's degree  

Business and Technology

It is possible to study Business and Technology (MSc in Industrial Engineering and Management) in your Master's degree if you have taken either Information and Communications Technology or Mathematics or Physics as the major subject in your Bachelor's degree and the average of your grades in your Bachelor's degree is at least 3,2/5.

Electrical Engineering

  • Wireless Communications and RF Systems if you have taken Information and Communications Technology either as major or minor subject in your Bachelor's degree, including the courses set as preliminary courses for the MSc major Wireless Communications and RF Systems

Materials Science and Engineering

It is possible to study Metallic and Ceramic Materials or Polymeric Materials as the major subject in your Master's degree if you have taken either Information and Communications Technology or Mathematics or Physics as the major subject in your Bachelor's degree and a 20 cr Minor in Materials Technology.

Photonics Technologies

If you have graduated from the programme with any major and minors, you may study in the MSc programme of Photonic Technologies. 

Science and Engineering

  • Mathematics if you have Mathematics as the major subject of your Bachelor's degree
  • Advanced Engineering Physics if you have Physics as the major subject of your Bachelor's degree
