Changing the degree programme, specialisation or campus

Change of degree programme or campus (degree title remains)

You can apply for change of degree programme or campus, if your degree title remains the same. The Head of Competence Area of the degree programme grants the decision on change of degree programme or campus.

Selection criteria:

  • You fulfil the admission criteria of the degree programme.
  • You have progressed well in your studies.
  • There are new/free study places in the group.
  • You have studied for a minimum of one semester.

Proceed as follows:

  • Fill in, print and sign the change application
    • Attach your current transcript of records and study certificate. You can download them from Pakki. 
  • Deliver the application with appendices to the student counsellor of the desired new degree programme.

Application period is flexible.

Decisions will be made after week 17 if the studies begin in August/September.

Decisions will be made after week 45 if the studies begin in January.

Please note that if you change to a Finnish language degree programme, and you are a tuition fee paying student, your status will change into non-paying from the beginning of the next term (1 January / 1 August) from the date of the decision on the change of degree programme.

Change of specialisation

You can apply for change of specialisation within your degree programme.

Application period is flexible.

Decisions will be made after week 17 if the studies begin in August/September.

Decisions will be made after week 45 if the studies begin in January.

The Head of Competence Area of the degree programme (or a person authorised by them) grants the decision on the change of specialisation.

Proceed as follows:

  • Fill in, print and sign the change application
    • Attach your transcript of records and study certificate. You can download them from Pakki.
  • Deliver the application with appendices to the student counsellor of the receiving degree programme.

 

Change of degree programme (degree title changes)

You can apply for change of degree programme, if your degree title changes e.g. from Bachelor of Health Care to Bachelor of Engineering. The decision is granted by the Vice President responsible for education.

Selection criteria:

  • There are new/free study places in the group.
  • Your reasons for changing the degree programme are substantial enough (e.g. health, career or aptitude related, prior difficulties) 
  • You fulfil the admission criteria of the degree programme.
  • You have studied for a minimum of one semester.
  • Your current study right extends far enough to complete the desired degree.

Proceed as follows:

  • First discuss your plans with the student counsellor of your existing degree programme (list of study counsellors)
  • Then discuss your plans with the student counsellor of your target degree programme (list above)
  • Fill in and submit the application only after these discussions and attach
    • more detailed description on the grounds for changing your degree (free form) and
    • your current transcript of records. You can download it from Pakki.

Application period is flexible.

Degree programme-specific pre-tasks related to the application process:

 

Transfer students

TAMK may accept transfer students from other Finnish higher education institutions or from TAMK if the pursued Finnish degree title changes in connection with the transfer. Transfer students are only taken at the beginning of semesters. Transfer is applied at Stydyinfo.fi.

Selection criteria:

  • a valid study right
  • enough completed studies in consideration of the used study time
  • there are free study places in the degree programme
  • academic success

The student counsellor prepares the decision proposal to the manager or a person authorised by the manager. The vice president decides on the acceptance of transfer students.
