Description

After completing the programme, students - will be able to describe the technical communication field and its practical and theoretical significance - will understand the technical communicator's role as the user's advocate, and they can both analyse information products critically and produce high-quality and usable technical documentation using different documentation technologies - will be able to analyse technical information and understand the principles of information modelling - can name the central principles of project management, remember documentation process models and understand their connection to product development - will know the core concepts in technical communication and have theoretical and methodological competence in technical communication.

Objectives

Upon completion of the module, you will:

be able to define the key concepts relating to technical communication and describe the professional and scientific dimensions of technical communication,
understand the technical communicator’s role not only as a representative of the user perspective but also as a problem-solver and a member of an organisation’s expert network,
be familiar with the principles of content strategy and be able to analyse target groups,
be able to assess the quality of technical writing and produce high-quality technical documentation,
be familiar with the tools and technologies in technical communication,
be able to describe the key elements of documentation processes and project management as well as the main principles of content strategy and content lifecycle management,
be familiar with the key theoretical frameworks of technical communication and research methods used in the field.
