The curriculum of Tampere University Doctoral School complements the instruction offered by the university's doctoral programmes. The joint doctoral studies form a smorgasbord that meets the competence needs of doctoral researchers and enables the students to choose courses that best suit their personal study plans and personal goals. The courses and other events organised by the Doctoral School are open to all doctoral researchers in the faculty-based doctoral programmes at the University.
Instruction is offered both in Finnish and English, which supports international doctoral researchers and internationalization at home. The joint doctoral studies organised by the Doctoral School bring together doctoral researchers from several fields of study, and help develop multidisciplinary skills.
The courses are designed to suit different phases of the doctoral process. The curriculum is designed in cooperation with the doctoral programmes and to meet the guidelines of the University. The curriculum consists of courses on a range of transferable, researcher and methods skills that are repeated in alternate semesters.
No general learning outcomes are defined for the joint doctoral studies organised by the Doctoral School.
