The teachers and experts who have completed the Master’s Degree Programme in Teaching, Learning and Media Education will
- be able to contribute to renewal of curriculum and educational practices and policies across levels of formal and informal education

- be able to critically evaluate and develop educational practices in the media- and technology-saturated society

- be capable of presenting valid arguments in the debate on education and educational policy and defending educational values

- be capable of making well-grounded ethical choices in their professional roles

- have an extensive understanding of societal and global conditions for learning and education 

- be able to apply scientific knowledge and research methods in multicultural educational environments

Content description

The programme consists of versatile subject studies framed in a media-saturated society, including learning in various digital contexts, inclusive education, curriculum studies, assessment, and quality of education. The methodological studies and master’s thesis project deepen the expertise. The programme considers education from multiple perspectives, such as educational sciences, pedagogical, philosophical, sociocultural and political perspectives. Further, students have the possibility to include free choice studies from other fields of science into their degree. Collaboration between the Faculty of Education and Culture and the Teacher Training School of Tampere University provides views of putting educational theories into practice.
