In this class, we will get acquainted with what forensic linguistics is and what questions does it strive to answer (How can language experts contribute to investigating crimes? What is linguistic evidence and is it admissible in court? What is authorship analysis, forensic discourse analysis, legal and forensic genres?). Students will become acquainted with linguistic theories that have been harnessed for forensic linguistic analysis. This course will focus on the specifics of English-language data and Anglophone contexts.
