During the course, scientific discussions and theoretical perspectives concerning adults’ learning will be introduced. Adults’ learning will be examined in both informal and formal contexts. The students will explore and discuss studies on adults’ learning in different kinds of learning environments, such as culturally diverse workplaces, non-governmental organizations, higher education institutions, and transnational communities including migrants and non-migrants. In small groups, the students will plan a small-scale study on adults’ learning and present their research plan in the last seminar.

The seminars will be conducted in English. The research plan and other written assignments can be written in English, in Finnish or in both languages. The students can draw on studies on adults’ learning written in various languages (not only English or Finnish). Knowledge of Finnish is not required to study on this course.
