\u00a0 The game is initially an exploration game, with players taking turns in building up the \u2018house on the hill\u2019 by placing <\/span><\/span>tile after tile<\/span><\/span>. Players move from room to room\u00a0<\/span><\/span>looking for\u00a0<\/span><\/span>helpful\u00a0<\/span><\/span>items and goodies but sometimes encountering less friendly circumstances; this leads us to the game\u2019s major plot twist, when it is discovered that one of the party members is actually a traitor, a betrayer<\/span><\/span>, who starts the Haunt<\/span><\/span>. This player<\/span><\/span>\u00a0is then given his own rule book and starts his quest for victory by attempting to kill the other players in all kinds of creative ways<\/span><\/span>\u00a0determined by the scenario that they\u2019re in<\/span><\/span>. The remaining party members also receive their own rule book and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>start plotting a way to kill the betrayer.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 The base game contains over 50 scenarios in which the betrayer and the remaining players fight to the death, with the expansion providing over another 50 new scenarios to experience<\/span><\/span>.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>This makes the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>replayability<\/span><\/span>\u00a0of Betrayal at the House on the Hill to skyrocket, being easily one of the most\u00a0<\/span><\/span>replayable<\/span><\/span>\u00a0games\u00a0<\/span><\/span>I<\/span><\/span>\u00a0have come across to this day; the scenario will most likely be different every single\u00a0<\/span><\/span>time\u00a0<\/span><\/span>you<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>play<\/span><\/span>\u00a0it, for a good while, at least. Not knowing what will happen and who the betrayer will be makes the buildup to the Haunt<\/span><\/span>\u00a0very intriguing and fun but also makes the game quite a strategic one if desired;<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>you<\/span><\/span>\u00a0can play this game casually with family\u00a0<\/span><\/span>or friends\u00a0<\/span><\/span>by just \u2018going with the flow\u2019 or\u00a0<\/span><\/span>players<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>can plan their moves more closely by\u00a0<\/span><\/span>watching their positioning and taking account of what items can be obtained and how, among other things.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 Like I mentioned in the beginning, one of my favorite things about this boardgame is that even with 6 players, there\u2019s never a dull moment<\/span>; the gameplay is great<\/span>. Where some boardgames have turns that players do individually, this game is more of a co-op and everyo<\/span>ne can have a say in what is going on at any time, especially after the betrayer is revealed as it turns into even more of a team game.<\/span>\u00a0This mechanic helps keep everyone engaged and focused on the task at hand better than I have seen more popular games do it. I\u00a0<\/span>definitely think<\/span>\u00a0it\u2019s quite an underrated boardgame<\/span>\u00a0at this point in time although it\u2019s doing very well considering it came out in 2004.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Other<\/span>\u00a0noteworthy things are the designs and\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>overall tidiness of the board and character\u00a0<\/span>tiles, making it very easy to understand and track.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 Whether a fan of boardgames or <\/span>not, this might be one you should try! Whether you have 2 friends or 5, it will be just as much fun to explore the house and massacre your friends!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
