\u00a0 Introducing a wintry pastime, where you sit and wait,
\nWith time to ponder and contemplate.
\n“Why am I here, what’s the point,
\nAren’t the fish asleep in the ice water joint?”
\nActually no, they’re swimming about,
\nSo grab your rod and lure them out!<\/p>\n

—<\/p>\n

A beautiful morning on a small lake,
\nCatching fish, a piece of cake.
\nNothing more than a hole in the ice,
\nIt’s enough, it will suffice.
\nThe controls are easy, just use the mouse.
\nThis friendly tip was on the house.<\/p>\n

Okay, there’s more to it, you can wander around,
\nHike the whole lake or listen to the sounds.
\nYou\u2019re not alone, there\u2019s others too,
\nTrying to get ingredients for a healthy stew.
\nStanding close you can hear them chit-chat,
\nMaking awkward small talk about this and that.<\/p>\n

Seems like a very nice place, but is there enough personal space?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

There\u2019s different bait and lures to choose,
\nWith lots of options to peruse.
\nWhat\u2019s the difference, I don\u2019t know,
\nJust take your pick and off we go!
\nNow I’m using a good-looking jig,
\nThe fish will come to me, I\u2019m sure of it!<\/p>\n

Being calm and zen and all that,
\nDon\u2019t know how long frozen I sat.
\nThen all of a sudden, I feel a yank,
\nExpecting nothing, it must be a blank.
\nThe line comes out and there is a fish,
\nI\u2019m in seventh heaven, an all-around bliss!<\/p>\n

Not the biggest catch for some, but I’ll take anything that’ll come<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

 <\/p>\n

But lo and behold, what is this,
\nMy neighbor Reijo has caught so much fish.
\nFilled with envy and so irate,
\nI have to beat him, it is my fate!
\nFirst thing to do in this new plot,
\nIs to look around and find a good spot.
\nIt isn\u2019t here, it isn\u2019t there,
\nIt doesn\u2019t seem to be anywhere!
\nThe clock is ticking, with nothing in sight,
\nIntense mouse clicking, it\u2019s gotta work, right?<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Wandering around to and fro,
\nFilled with desperation, grief and woe.
\nIn a secluded bay I make a wish,
\nLord, just for this day, grant me fish.
\nA whale it doesn\u2019t need to be,
\nNeither a leviathan from the sea,
\nJust something that\u2019ll give me joy,
\nMaybe get on the high score list too, oh boy!<\/p>\n

No room for critique, have to invent a new technique<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n

Last try now, it\u2019s got to succeed,
\nA perch or salmon is what I need.
\nSomething\u2019s biting, I can feel it now,
\nIt won\u2019t get away, this I vow!
\nPulling the rod with all my might,
\nNot a very pleasant sight,
\nBut out comes fish, rod and all,
\nI scream and stumble and eventually fall.
\nI got a fish, it\u2019s a grand one,
\nMust be the biggest catch under the sun!<\/div>\n

Now I must hurry and pick up the pace,
\nNot being quick means losing the race.
\nA minute to go and I\u2019m far from the goal,
\nRunning and sprinting may yet save my soul.
\nI dash at the beach, landing on all fours,
\nStill slightly shaken, I inquire my scores:
\n\u201cDid I win, where\u2019s the prize?\u201d
\nAlas, to my great surprise,
\nI didn\u2019t quite make it in time,
\nResulting in a very sad rhyme.<\/div>\n

Raising a holler and doth protest:
\n\u201cI was just an inch away, surely you jest!\u201d
\nTo my major dismay, they point to the rules:
\n\u201cThat\u2019s our final say, got no time for fools\u201d<\/div>\n

Only one thing to do,
\nAnd that\u2019s wrap up the thing.
\nIt was kind of fun,
\nEven if I couldn\u2019t win.
\nWhile the game isn\u2019t pretty and looks kinda old,
\nIt is very authentic; you can feel the cold.
\nI\u2019m clearly not qualified to give any tips,
\nJust keep in mind, there\u2019s always fish and chips.<\/div>\n
