Bachelor's Degree Programme in Educational Studies, Early Childhood Education and Care Teacher, 180 op

Upon completion of bachelor’s degree programme, the student:

- is able to work in expert positions in education and training according to the specialisation of his/her studies;

-has developed his/her professional identity and is capable of developing the field of education and teaching, and of working in multi-professional work communities;

-understands his/her ethical responsibility as a social and global actor and the significance of interaction skills in the field of education;

- is capable of acquiring and critically analysing significant research knowledge of his/her own field, and can utilise this knowledge in future studies and expert tasks;

- is familiar with the basics of scientific research and the essential research methods, and is able to conduct and report a small-scale scientific dissertation according to good scientific practices;

-has good communication and language skills, and is prepared to utilise information and communication technology in future studies and the expert tasks in his/her field.

The Degree Programme in Educational Studies is based on broad-based expertise in the field of education. The bachelor’s degree consists of basic studies and specialised studies within the Faculty, plus free choice studies across the faculty boundaries. The majority of the basic and intermediate studies in education are common to all the students in the degree programme.

In the bachelor’s degree, the student familiarises him/herself with the topics of educational research and the basics of theory formation and scientific research in the field of education. Student with a specialisation in early childhood education and care or class teacher education become acquainted with the subject-specific contents essential to early childhood education and care or primary education. These students also become familiar with pedagogics and didactics. Student with specialisation in lifelong learning and education familiarises themselves with the phenomena and forms of education in different fields of society and at different stages of life.
