European Civil Wars in Comparative Perspective. The cases of Finland and Spain, 5 op

The aim of this course is to examine comparatively the origins, development and consequences of the Finnish Civil War (1918) and the Spanish Civil War (1936-39). We will pay special attention to the main historiographical debates on these issues, the international dimensions of the conflicts, the emergence and the forms of political violence and social aspects of the conflicts.
