American Gangs is designed to approach the topic of gangs and gang behavior using new perspectives. Issues explored in the course will include: organized crime, signaling, gang incentive structures, provision of illicit goods and services, contract enforcement and the role of violence among other issues. Additionally, we will explore the effects of current policy on gang behavior and will attempt to find better alternatives.
Modes of study
A midterm exam and a final exam, or essays.
