    Major research interests and scientific achievements have been in the following areas: Filtering, 

Smoothing of Data and Image/Signal Processing: Parametric and Nonparametric Algorithms, Robust 

Nonlinear Estimates, Nonstationary Processes, Time-Frequency Analysis . Stochastic Optimization: 

Recursive Algorithms for Optimization of Multivariate Regressions, Optimization and Smoothing of 

Data, Stochastic Approximation, Constrained Optimization. Automatic Control: Linear Optimal 

Multivariable Stochastic Control, Digital Control, Adaptive Control and Identification. Mathematical 

Models of Flexible Manufacturing Systems: Stochastic Modelling, Production Systems, Reliability 

Systems. 

    Merits in teaching and pedagogical competence  

    More than 50 years teaching experience (LPI, UNISA, K-JIST, TUT);  

    Invited talks at universities and companies worldwide. Talks at major signal processing 

conferences (ICIP, EUSIPCO, ICASSP, SPIE Electronic Imaging, DSP ).  

    Supervision: 23 Ph.D. students and 43 Master's students.
