Tampereen ammattikorkeakoulu
Projektin kesto15.11.2019–16.7.2024

Hankkeen tavoitteena on nykyaikaistaa tunisialaista korkeakoulutusta ja lujittaa koulutuksen laatua neljässä biotekniikan korkeakoulutusta tarjoavassa yliopistossa.

Tavoite ja tehtävät

Tunisia is currently facing several types of problems, the most important of which is that of the employability of university graduates. The causes of unemployment among higher education graduates are multiple and complex. The improvement and professionalization of higher education has thus become a major challenge for the Tunisian university, they constitute a priority and a strategic axis in the national reflections within the framework of the national project for the reform of the sector.

The field of university training most affected by this scourge is the field of biology and biotechnology. To cope with the increased number of graduates, training in Biology/Biotechnology has experienced a clear massification. Indeed, 4 new higher institutes of Biotechnology for the same training objective, which generated many graduates in Biotechnology License. These graduates currently have no possibility of recruitment into the civil service. In the private sector, these graduates find it very difficult to get jobs due firstly to the absence of a strong economic fabric in the specialty and secondly to the absence of a recognized “biotechnologist” curriculum (profession).

There is thus currently a high unemployment rate among graduates in Biotechnology representing the largest part of the national unemployment rate (about 75%). Paradoxically, this situation does not discourage new high school graduates. Companies in the Tunisian economic fabric is 80% family-owned and have few recruitment needs. The mismatch between training and the labor market has become persistent. These postgraduates mostly only have the prospect of recruitment into higher education. Recruitment in the field of research or in business remains very limited. The alternative of creating small and medium-sized enterprises by these young graduates is very little encouraged due to the lack of support measures and appropriate training within universities.
