Please note that all selected students will need to send certified copies of their educational documents to Tampere University by post. Please see the detailed information instructions above.

Acceptance from a waiting list
A place on a waiting list means that you fulfilled the minimum requirements for the admission, but considering the quota of study places available, your position among the applicants was not high enough so that the programme could offer you a study place at this point. You are positioned on a waiting list for the programme on base of your admission score.
You will be offered a study place according to your ranking on the list. Please note that your ranking improves if the selected applicants decline the places offered, other applicants from the waiting list accept some other study places or the selected students before do not accept the study places by the deadline 15 July 2022.
If a study place opens it is offered to the next person/persons on the waiting list. If you are offered a study place, you will receive a message from Studyinfo and an email from the Admission Office.
Acceptance from the waiting ends 2 August 2022 and it is not possible to be accepted after that.
One study place per term provision in Finland
According to this provision, a student may accept only one study place leading to a higher education degree in Finland in education that begins in the same academic term. This rule applies to all higher education in Finland. Even if you register as absent or give up your study place, you cannot accept another study place starting in the same academic term. Accepting a study place Tampere University means that you cannot accept another study place for the same term in another Finnish higher education institution, or if you have accepted a study place elsewhere, you cannot accept a study place at Tampere University later. This is to ensure that as many applicants as possible get a study place every year.
The provision does not prevent you from accepting a study place in another degree programme during another academic term. The provision does not apply to studies at higher education institutions outside of Finland. For more information on this, please see Studyinfo.fi.

Transfer applications
- Transfer student application based on a study place in Finnish university in the same or similar study field programme
Näytä
Students who are looking to transfer to Tampere University from a different university in Finland can apply to transfer from their current programme to Tampere University’s degree programmes in the fields of engineering if they hold a valid right to study towards a bachelor’s degree in an applicable field of study. The applicable fields of study vary between degree programmes. Students who are currently working towards the degree of Bachelor of Science in Technology at Tampere University can apply for transfer to a different specialisation by following a separate internal transfer procedure.
Students who are considering transfer are recommended to apply for transfer on their first or second year, so that they have enough time to complete a bachelor’s degree without exceeding the time limit. If you have already graduated with a bachelor's degree or are due to graduate in the spring when you apply for transfer, you should apply to transfer directly to a master’s programme.
If your transfer application is accepted, you will be granted the right to study for the same level of qualifications as during your previous right to study.
The principle that a student may accept only one offer of admission from a higher education institution per academic year does not apply to transfer students. Students whose transfer application is accepted must withdraw from their current programme when they accept their place in the new programme.
Applicants who are seeking admission to an English-taught degree programme at Tampere University will be eligible for admission only if they are able to demonstrate sufficient proficiency in the English language. Read more about our language requirements.
Max. 5 seats in the Bachelor's programme in Science and Engineering (combined for Natural Sciences and Mathematics as well as Computing and Electrical Engineering). Tampere University does not have an obligation to fill all the seats available for admission.
Tampere University will consider all transfer applications that are submitted by students who meet the minimum eligibility requirements. Admission decisions are based on applicants’ academic record, and the admission process does not include an entrance examination. Please be aware that admission is competitive and meeting the minimum eligibility requirements does not guarantee admission.
Your transfer application can only be accepted if you will be able to graduate without exceeding the time limit for degree completion. When estimating your time to degree, we will consider:
- the time you have spent studying towards your current degree;
- the credits that you have already earned and that can be counted towards your new Tampere University degree;
- whether you will be able to graduate within the standard amount of time (time limit for completing a bachelor’s degree).
When you apply for transfer, you must provide a preliminary personal study plan so we can estimate the time it will take for you to complete your degree.
All students working towards the degree of Bachelor of Science in Technology are required to complete courses in mathematics and natural sciences. The required scope of these courses varies between degree programmes. When assessing the applicability of your current degree programme to your prospective programme at Tampere University, we will especially consider the number of credits you have earned by completing courses in mathematics and natural sciences while working towards your current degree.
All transfer applicants seeking admission to a Tampere University degree programme in engineering must have earned at least 55 credits per academic year while studying for their current degree. When we assess your academic record to determine whether you satisfy this requirement, we will consider the transcripts that you upload to your online transfer application by 15 June 2022. If you do not upload further transcripts by this deadline, we will consider your application based on the transcript of records you provided earlier in the admission process.
Applicable prior fields of study and the minimum GPA requirements vary between programmes. We will consider your unrounded GPA, calculated to two decimal points, when scoring and ranking applications. Only numerical course grades will be considered when calculating your GPA.
Programme-specific admission requirements
In the programme Science and Engineering, Natural Sciences and Mathematics applicable prior fields of study and the minimum GPA requirements are set as follows:

Should you be considered a fee-paying student, you will also be asked whether you wish to apply for a scholarship offered within the Tampere University Scholarships Programme and further instructed on the attachments required for the application.

You may supplement the transcript of records you have originally submitted with your application by uploading an up-to-date-version of the transcript of records to your application by 15 June 2022.
