Over the past few years, giving and receiving consent in intimate encounters has become a highly contested topic in both public and political debates. This discussion is often saturated around young people, although it excludes their voices. As such it bypasses crucial expertise deriving from young people’s everyday lives and lacks sensitivity towards intersecting social differences of ethnicity, race, gender, class, and sexual identity. The event invites scholars, professionals and students to discuss sexual consent and the limits of acceptable behaviour in young people’s intimate encounters, including their social and digital contexts. The aim is to inspire discussion on this sensitive subject and introduce ongoing research projects and a campaign dealing with the theme.
