Tampere Summer School - Frequently asked questions
What are the entry requirements?
To meet the general entry requirements, students should have completed a minimum of 1-2 years of university / applied university studies prior to the start of courses and must be proficient in English. In order for the student’s application to be processed, all required documents must be submitted.
How do I apply for Tampere Summer School?
All Tampere Summer School applications must be submitted via an online application form (available during application rounds). You need to fill in an online application and submit a motivation letter for the course(s) applied for.
Do I need to submit proof of English level?
No, you do not have to submit proof of your English level. However, students should have a good command of English in listening, speaking, reading and writing in order to be able to successfully participate in the courses. Hence, students must be proficient in English.
Please note more specific language requirements if you are applying as an exchange or a degree student to the Tampere University or Tampere University of Applied Sciences.
Do you have any scholarships available for Tampere Summer School?
Unfortunately, we do not have any kind of scholarships available for Tampere Summer School courses. Please enquiry from your home university for possible travel grants for short-term studies abroad.
What happens if I don’t get accepted to any of the courses I have applied for?
In that case there will be an additional application round during June where courses with empty seats are open and you are able to apply again for a different course.
I have made my payment, will I receive a confirmation?
Students who have been admitted and registered (= final confirmation) to Tampere Summer School will get a confirmation by email.
Can I change/cancel my registration?
You are free to change or cancel your registration as long as the application period is still open. After the deadline it is not possible to change to another course, but you can cancel your registration until 27 June 2022. Tampere Summer School will refund the course fee, minus 50 euros for banking and administrative costs.
How many ECTS points/courses can I take?
The maximum amount of ECTS points you can take is 10, and the maximum of courses you can take is two, but only if their teaching does not overlap. The amount of ECTS points varies from 2 to 5 depending on the course.
What time of the day is the teaching?
Teaching slots are divided between mornings and afternoons. The teaching timetable (EEST, UTC +3) will be published before the application period starts so you are able to see the sessions scheduled for each course.
For online courses: please remember to check the course specific timetable within your time zone.
Do you have more information about the contact hours?
More information can be found on the teaching timetable in spring 2022. Please note that all courses are full-time, and students are expected to participate all sessions of the course mentioned on the timetable.
Do I need to bring my own computer?
We expect the students to bring their own computer. There will however be some computers available in the computer lab during daytime. If the course takes place at the computer lab, this will be mentioned on the teaching timetable.
If the course is organised online you will need a fully functional device (laptop, PC, tablet) with the following functions:
- stable internet connection
- camera and microphone
- installation rights & compatibility with our learning softwares (Zoom, Moodle, etc.)
What is included in the course fee?
The course fee includes:
- registration to the course
- guidance and service
- info package
- study facilities
- certificate (for external students only)
Please note that accommodation and meals are not included in the course fee.
Where can I get my transcript of records?
Transcript of records will be issued after a successful completion of the Tampere Summer School course. For the external students of TAU/TAMK transcripts will be sent to the address provided on the application form.
