New Knowledge - Creation and Tools, Lectures

Students understand the significance of different new knowledge creation tools and approaches for successful innovation, as well as for the development of new products, services and business. They understand the most important challenges in new knowledge creation especially in the context of designing very novel types of innovations.

They know and are able to make use of different types of tools and approaches (e.g. lean startup and other experimental approaches) used in the creation of new knowledge. They also understand their importance in addressing the above mentioned challenges, and can apply the above types of tools and approaches in the development of business especially in the innovation context.

Core content

• Different types of tools and systematical approaches which can be used to create and visualize new information and knowledge for efficient organizational decision making (e.g. experiment design and lean startup)

• Scenarios, roadmapping, creative problem solving and other tools from the perspective of new knowledge creation

• The cognitive and information processing- related psychological barriers and challenges in the creation and utilization of new knowledge and information from the perspective of innovation design

Complementary knowledge

• The new opportunities
      of collective intelligence, wisdom of crowds and social media in the internal
      and external knowledge creation and sharing of organizations
