Parties and Elections, 10 cr

After completing the course unit the student possesses a sophisticated understanding of research literature about elections and political parties. Students are familiar with different electoral systems and with factors affecting voting behaviour and party system change. Students can critically examine and discuss the challenges facing political parties and representative democracies. Students can also analyse how recent developments in the Finnish political system reflect broader patterns of electoral and party system change in Europe and beyond.
