a. Knowledge & understanding
- You will have a general knowledge of the air transport system & its environment, of its history till date & the strategic importance of aviation.
- You will be well acquainted with the fundamentals of the Earth’s (standard) atmosphere, the basics on aviation meteorology, & the effects of weather on aircraft & its operations.
- You will be familiar with the different aircraft design disciplines & types, the main characteristics of the latter & the broad spectrum of their uses.
- You will have a good understanding of the physics of flight, the boundaries & limitations of aircraft operations, including the phases of airplane manufacturing & life-cycle.
- You will be conversant with the major stakeholders in the air transport industry, including their roles in the design, manufacturing, operation, maintenance, repair, overhaul, modification, completion & conversion of the aircraft (A/C).
- You will know the basics of aircraft safety, maintenance, repair, overhaul & reliability.
- You will have a good understanding of the organizational & external factors influencing the air transport industry.
- You will have a sound knowledge of the global regulatory & organizational setup of the air transport industry.
- You will be able to determine the extent to which aviation law & regulation shape contemporary air transport operations & management, understand the reasons for, & implications arising from the major aviation conventions.
- You will have a general understanding of the manufacturer-airline & the airport–airline relationships.
- You will have a grounding in military aviation & how it compares to civil aviation.
- You will become familiar with virtual aviation, the challenges for sustainable (green) aviation, & will get some pieces of career advice on aircraft engineering.

- You will develop an ability to read, understand & interpret basic aircraft engineering publications.
- You will be able to write basic computer programs &, evaluate & critically analyze the results obtained.
- You will be able to clearly communicate your work in written reports & give effective oral presentations.

- Introduction to airports, airfields & related infrastructures.
- Basics of aviation law, air transport policy & regulations.
