The students will gain preliminary knowledge and experience in many-body simulation techniques in computational physics. This will enable them to manage research projects on rather specific and advanced themes. In general, the students will enhance their abilities and knowledge in
- performing numerical work independently as well as in a team
- analyzing general results critically
- visualizing and presenting data appropriately
- obtaining and improving their knowledge on information and communication technology
- thinking creatively and seeing alternative ways for problem solving and presenting results
- organizing and conducting own small projects
- introductory many-body methodology
Core content
- Introduction to many-body methodology in computational physics
- Data visualization and analysis
- Numerical calculus and linear algebra
- Numerical solution of ordinary and partial differential equations
Complementary knowledge
- Working with supercomputers and superclusters
- Perceptually uniform colormaps
- Multi-dimensional calculus
- Relation to computational physics
- Basics in related numerical framework
Specialist knowledge
- Details in many-body simulation techniques
- Meaningful publication-quality figures
- How to select and implement some key algorithms
- Usage, implementation and development of related codes
