Tampere University Student's Handbook
COVID-19 instructions for arriving international students
Welcome to Tampere University! We have gathered on this page some points to take into account when arriving in Finland during the coronavirus pandemic. Please remember to keep yourself updated on the current coronavirus situation and the up-to-date restrictions and safety recommendations in Finland, and make sure to observe these recommendations closely.
Before your travel to Finland, check and follow the instructions provided by the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) and the Finnish Border Guard. Students are responsible for all expenses related to own vaccination certificates, necessary health insurance, and costs related to COVID-19 testing either in Finland or in their home countries. It is very important to make sure that your health insurance is at an adequate level before travelling to Finland, even if you are travelling within the EU.
Please note that the health security measures applied to individuals arriving in Finland are mandatory, and you are obliged to follow them.
A FINENTRY service has been implemented to make COVID-19 testing on arrival in Finland easier. It is highly recommended to log on to the service before arrival in Finland. With the help of the service, you can book an appointment for a free COVID-19 test in Finland. Please find the FINENTRY service through this link.
We expect you to arrive fully vaccinated.
Only persons who have received a complete and valid vaccination series may be granted entry into Finland from any country, provided that at least 14 days have passed since the last vaccine dose has been received. For more information, go to Guidelines for border traffic during pandemic (The Finnish Border Guard). Combinations of any of the vaccines listed in the table below to reach a full vaccination series are approved.
Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact the university for help. Please check this page for the contact details of our guidance and councelling services. Remember also the well-being and guidance service Navigaattori which is currently available online.
Check the Tampere University's covid info before your arrival. Wearing a face mask is required in the indoors facilities of Tampere University. It is still very important that all the members of our community continue to behave responsibly. The updated guidelines are set out in the Covid control plan.
Other instances such as TOAS or POAS, for example, may have their own regulations. Do remember to follow them when you arrive.
Tampere University is adapting to the situation in order to help fight the spread of COVID-19.
