WRC brings together research community represeting various diciplicines. The integrating theme in the research is the idea on sustainable working life.

Research focus and goals

WRC aims at high quality scientific research and to support graduate and post-graduate training, as well as implementing development projects. The centre brings together various diciplines including sociology, social psychology, social and public policy, administrative science, psychology, and education.

Work Research Centre's research concentrates on  the following themes:

  • Technology and work
  • Work, well-being and quality of life
  • Power relationships in working life and gender
  • Labour markets and use of labour force
  • Work communities, change and development.

Research projects use various research methods, and both qualitative and quantitive  methodologies. WRC does both theoretical research and empirical examinations using national and international survey- and register data, various interview methodologies, participatory observations, video-recording as well as development and action research.
