Every discipline and field of education within our active university community contribute to the sustainable development of society in a recognisable manner.
We constantly evaluate our social impact with concrete, constantly improving and multi-dimensional metrics. These metrics take into account the short and long-term missions of the different disciplines of our academic community in the sustainable development of the society around us.
Results and impact at Tampere University
At Tampere University, we conduct international evaluations of research on a regular basis in order to gain in-depth information on the quality and scientific impact of our research activities in relation to the global level. In addition to overall evaluations and when considered necessary, we conduct more limited evaluations to support strategic planning and the development of operations.
Experts in our Library regularly generate a variety of metrics-based reviews to help us follow how the quality and impact of publishing and scientific productivity develops. We ensure that all of our metrics are responsibly generated and used.
We continuously develop new ways to monitor the societal impact of our researchers and research at the regional, national and international levels.
The latest research assessment exercises, which were undertaken before the merger, were conducted in 2014 at the University of Tampere and in 2017 at Tampere University of Technology. The results of these evaluations are used in the strategic planning, profiling and decision-making of the new Tampere University.
