From Margins of Labour Markets towards Empowerment? (MARTE)

Tampere University
Duration of project1.9.2018–31.8.2021

The project addresses social employment  i.e. attempts to integrate disadvantaged individuals into the labour market through supported work and coaching.

Background

The project utilizes interviews, observations and recordings of interaction as data, and qualitative research methods such as conversation analysis.

Goal

The project has the following two objectives: First, to provide new knowledge on the implications of organizational practices for the empowerment process on social employment programmes. This knowledge facilitates the development of policies that support empowerment for disadvantaged individuals and communities.

Second, to identify micro-practices of coaching within social employment programmes that support or hinder empowerment. Through this understanding, the project provides coaching methods for professionals working in the field of social employment.
