The digitalization of professional transport is an international megatrend driven by technology development, globalization and growing environmental requirements. However, the driver's role has been left to little attention due to the illusion that autonomous transport has been thought to replace human drivers.

The role of human drivers in professional transport - independently and as part of automation - is still crucial for decades and, on top of all, they represent a quantitatively significant and ageing force. There is a great need for the comprehensive development of smart professional driving, involving both testing, product development and education.

Co-Creation project aims at identifying and bringing together a group of industrial companies committed to the planning of a research project and the implementation of the actual Co-Innovation project. A multidisciplinary research consortium will also be gathered to respond specifically to the research interests of smart professional driving.
