Tampere University

iFuCo is an interdisciplinary, international project representing psychology, education and educational psychology, and information sciences with an ambitious enterprise both to increase our understanding of students Online Inquiry Competencies (OICs) in the context of web-dominated information and media environment, and to develop a novel, culturally relevant pedagogical model and practices for online inquires.

This consortium includes research groups from three Finnish and two  Chilean universities.

Background

The research questions are targeted at lower elementary school teachers and pupils. More specifically, the goal is to study the attitudes and beliefs in one's ability in respect to Internet literacy.  A study intervention was conducted in natural and social sciences classes. The results are studied from the point of view of ICT skills. The differences were assessed with a pre/post test, and an international comparison.
