How to support the risk assessment expertise and how to estimate the success of the risk assessment?

Tampere University
Duration of project1.10.2020–31.12.2022
safety

The subject of the study is the risk assessment skills of people who carry out risk assessments in the workplace and the success of risk assessment. Previous studies have found that risks remain unidentified and unmanaged due to the limitations of risk assessment expertise and tools. There is no generally accepted framework for assessing the success of a risk assessment and little guidance is available anyway.

More research is needed to support a high-quality and successful risk assessment in practice. The aim of this study is to increase the understanding of different ways to support the risk assessment skills of those who perform risk assessment in the workplace and to assess the success of risk assessment. Based on the results of the project, a material package will be prepared, which will contain information and tools for the development of risk assessment from the perspectives of competence support and success evaluation.
